Shanghai Students’ Art Troupe performed in Istanbul

On April 20th and 21st, 2015, at the invitation of the Confucius Institute at Bogazici University, the Shanghai Students’ Art Troupe consisting of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Education, Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Gezhi High School of Shanghai, and China Welfare Institute Children’s Palace visited Istanbul and staged a concert at Ozyegin University. Jin Wei, a well-known host from Shanghai Oriental TV Station, hosted this concert and Ms. Liu Lian, a famous soprano singer from Shanghai Conservatory of Music, gave splendid performances. The concert started with the chorus by the Choir of China Welfare Institute Children’s Palace, who performed several songs like I Sing the Voice of the World, Tune Guessing, and Jasmine Flower. The String Orchestra of Gezhi High School of Shanghai performed some pieces of classic music. Then, one member of the orchestra, Zhu Jingting, known as “The Young Genius”, performed Chopin’s Fantaisie Impromptu. Next, the concert reached its exciting climax when famous singers Liu Lian and Zhang Fantao sang together. Zhang Fantao sang several songs like A Glass of Mellow Wine, and Liu Lian’s performed some other classic songs like Nessun Dorma. Finally, they performed together the theme song of the World Expo 2010 Shanghai Building for Tomorrow. During their stay in Istanbul, members of the Art Troupe also visited the Turkish Music Conservatory of Istanbul Technical University (ITU) and the Confucius Institute at Bogazici University.
