The Confucius Institute at Bogazici University Held the 2018 Council

On April 13, 2018, the 2018 Council of the Confucius Institute at Bogazici University (CIBU) was held in the President's Building of Bogazici University. Prof. Gong Siyi, deputy party secretary and vice president of Shanghai University, Prof. Yao Ximing, Dean of School of International Exchange of Shanghai University and Director of Confucius Institute Office, Dr. Ni Lan, Deputy Director of Shanghai University International Affairs Division, and Dr. Li Wenhong, Chinese Director of CIBU attended the meeting. Turkish Representatives of the participants are Professor Ali Tekcan, Deputy Dean of Bogazici University, Nligün Işık, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, and Prof. Esenbel Selçuk, the founder of the Asian Studies Center. (Professor) and Professor Arzu Öztürkmen, the Turkish Director of CIBU.       Ms. Arzu Öztürkmen reported to the members of the Council on the work of the Confucius Institute in 2017. In her work plan of CIBU in 2018, Ms. Arzu Öztürkmen mentioned that she will continue to support the development of the Confucius Institute. Ms. Gong pointed out that both parties should work together to promote the in-depth development of the Confucius Institute. In terms of cooperation in different fields, Shanghai University regards Bogazicis University as an important partner and is willing to actively promote mutual exchanges of the two sides in areas of common interest.       As one of the important countries in the Belt and Road Initiative, Turkey has had close contacts with China since ancient times. Under the new opportunity for development, the Confucius Institute at Bogazici University will also play a more prominent role for both sides.
