Confucius Institute at Bogazici University Cosponsored the Sino-Turkey Publishing Industry Forum

On November 17 th, 2012, CIBU was invited to attend the 31st Istanbul International Book Fair. Over 600 publishers and non-government organizations joined the Fair and over 410,000 people visited the Fair. Liu Binjie, Head of the General Administration of Press and Publication, Egemen Bağıs, Turkey’s EuropeanAffairs Minister, Kadir Topbas, Mayor of Istanbul and Zhang Qingyang, the Consulate-General in Chinese Consulate General in Turkey attended the opening ceremony of the Chinese Book Fair organized by General Administration of Press and Publication of China and jointly cut the ribbon.

Photo1: CIBU staff at the opening ceremony “The Sino-Turkey Publishing Industry Forum” was successfully held at Mediterranean Room in the TUYAP Exhibition Center. CIBU invited over 20 Turkish university students to take part in the Forum. The Chinese Director of CIBU Miao Fuguang was invited to give a speech about Chinese language education and textbook usage in Turkey at the opening ceremony. In his speech, Director Miao expressed his wish of strengthening the communication and cooperation of Chinese and Turkish publishers due to the increasing Sino-Turkish economic and cultural exchange and Turkish people’s increasing interest in Chinese language and culture.
