2023 China-Turkiye Forum
The Confucius Institute at Boğaziçi University (CIBU) hosted the 2023 China-Turkiye Forum between 21-22 October. The topic of the forum was environment, human health and sustainability, corresponding to pandemic, global warming, extreme weather, in order to think of how to make our planet and life more sustainable.
The first keynote speech was from Professor Li Li, Vice Director of the School of Environmental and Chemical Engineering, Shanghai University (SHU). Based on the recent field data, she presented cutting-edge research results on "The Impact of Chlorine Chemistry on Air Quality". The second keynote speaker is Professor Bahar Ince, Head of Environmental Sciences Division, Institute of Environmental Sciences, Boğaziçi University (BU). She planned to give presentations ranging from exploring the oldest life forms known on Earth from Salda Lake, establishing an excellent technology for agricultural waste stabilization/treatment and renewable energy carrier production, and to discovering a new pathway for the biodegradation of petroleum hydrocarbon contaminated soils.

Prof. Lv Senlin, Prof. Cheng Ping and Assoc. Prof. Wang Yangjun from SHU, and Assoc. Prof. Ulas Tezel from BU also presented the latest progress of their research.
The participants also visited the Kilyos Laboratory at the Saritepe Campus.
CIBU is not only a platform for learning Chinese language and Chinese culture, but also to promote exchange of students and researchers between BU and SHU.
