Prof.Arzu Öztürkmen Visited Confucius Institute at Bogazici University
On March 15th, 2013, Prof. Arzu Öztürkmen from History Department at Bogazici University visited Confucius Institute at Bogazici University for the first time. Prof. Arzu Öztürkmen graduated from Bogazici University in 1988, and the same year she did her Master’s at Folklore Institute of Indiana University in America. In 1993, she got her PhD at University of Pennsylvania. Her dissertation title is Folklore and Nationalism in Turkey. She was employed as Assistant Profession of History by Bogazici University in 1994 and was promoted to Professor of History in 2009. Until now, she has published more than 70 academic papers, among which 14 have been included in SSCI, AHCI and EWIC. Besides her great academic achievement she is active in academic societies and social and cultural organization. She is National Liasion Officer of the International Countil of Traditional Music and member of the American Folklore Society and the Foundation of Turkish Economic and Social History. Prof. Arzu Öztürkmen, accompanied by Chinese Director of CIBU Associate Prof. Miao Fuguang and Turkish Director Prof. Esenbel, visited the classroom, offices and library of CIBU. Later, she had a meeting with staff of CIBU. Turkish Director Prof. Esenbel explained all the regular work done by CIBU and especially detailed the responsibilites and major work of Turkish Director, while Chinese Director Associate Prof. Miao Fuguang introduced the development of CIBU and the cooperation mode of Chinese and Turkish Directors. It is said that Prof.Arzu Öztürkmen has been recommended by Bogazici University to be the next Turkish Director of CIBU.
